The panel heard a detailed report from the project contractor, reviewed original records and related drawings, and inspected the project site and physical core samples. The experts affirmed the quality of the fieldwork, concluding that the project had adopted an appropriate technical approach, established sound organizational safeguards, implemented effective quality-control measures and produced reliable exploration results.

The Shouguang Geothermal Field Resource Survey and Assessment Project is a provincial geological exploration project undertaken by the Shandong Institute of Geological and Mineral Engineering Exploration. Its fieldwork has now been completed, with preliminary results achieved through geothermal geological surveys, geophysical exploration, geothermal drilling, production capacity testing and reinjection tests.

First, the project identified the geothermal geological conditions of the Shouguang Geothermal Field, including its stratigraphic lithology and geological structure, and determined the burial depth of the caprock and the occurrence characteristics of its geothermal resources.

Second, it clarified the burial characteristics and spatial distribution of different geothermal reservoirs, as well as the characteristics of the geothermal field.

Third, it determined the physical properties and chemical composition of the geothermal fluids and assessed their potential applications.

The project contractor will next delineate geothermal anomaly zones based on reservoir characteristics, further investigate the recharge, flow and discharge conditions of geothermal fluids and their dynamic variation patterns, calculate the resources contained in different geothermal reservoirs, and evaluate their development and utilization potential. Taking into account local demand such as greenhouse heating, the project will also propose feasible geothermal development and utilization plans and recommendations.
