On July 2, Sinopec Oilfield Service Corporation (Sinopec Jingwei Co., Ltd.) held its third “Technology and Talent Week” event in Qingdao, unveiling eight new technologies and products independently developed over the past two years across four major series: Jingwei Exploration, Jingwei Vision, Jingwei Navigation, and Jingwei Intelligence. Academicians Li Ning, Lin Jun, and Sun Huanquan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering attended the event and delivered academic presentations.

The eight achievements cover key fields including rock physics experiments, fiber-optic sensing logging, and measurement-while-drilling (MWD) technologies. Several technologies have reached internationally leading levels, marking significant progress in China’s independent development and control of high-end oil and gas measurement and control equipment.

Amid profound changes in the global energy landscape and increasing challenges in deep and unconventional oil and gas exploration and development, independent control of advanced technologies and equipment has become a key factor in overcoming industry bottlenecks. As an important force in China’s energy technology sector, Sinopec Jingwei has focused on key areas including “deep, unconventional, mature, emerging, and new” resources and continuously advanced breakthroughs in core technologies.

The company has a high-level R&D team of nearly 1,000 professionals, has undertaken 20 national-level research projects and 60 provincial and ministerial-level projects, and has established four national-level and eight provincial-level research platforms. Over the past three years, its total investment in scientific research has reached RMB 971 million.

Among the eight newly released achievements, the world’s first integrated rock physics testing platform combining nuclear magnetic resonance, pyrolysis analysis, high-temperature and high-pressure displacement, triaxial stress testing, and acoustic measurement attracted particular attention. The platform can accurately reproduce in-situ conditions of deep and unconventional reservoirs, providing high-precision experimental capabilities for evaluating complex oil and gas reservoirs.

The distributed fiber-optic sensing logging equipment successfully achieved precise temperature measurement in wells exceeding 10 kilometers in depth, with acoustic low-frequency response below 0.01 Hz. The technology has already been applied in major exploration areas including Southwest China and Xinjiang.

The launch of a high-speed while-drilling transmission system and an integrated “well-ground-cloud” directional software platform represents a new step forward in China’s digital and intelligent development of measurement and control technologies during drilling operations.

During the event, the Deep Exploration and Imaging National Key Laboratory’s Industry-Research-Finance Innovation Demonstration Base was officially inaugurated. Research teams from institutions including the Institute of Acoustics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jilin University, China University of Geosciences (Beijing), China University of Petroleum (East China), and Harbin Institute of Technology, as well as companies such as PetroChina and China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL), conducted in-depth technical exchanges with Sinopec Jingwei.

Academician Li Ning analyzed new trends in global energy exploration and development in his presentation titled “Information Innovation: China’s Logging Opportunities Amid a Once-in-a-Century Transformation.” Academician Lin Jun discussed challenges facing China’s deep exploration technologies in his report “Deep Exploration Equipment Must Achieve Self-Reliance.” Academician Sun Huanquan presented achievements made by Sinopec in shale oil and gas development through new technologies and equipment in his report “New Advances in Shale Oil and Gas Development and Monitoring Technology Applications.”
