Sinopec Research Institute Sets Reform Priorities

Recently, the Panyu 10-4 oilfield development platform, built by Offshore Oil Engineering, completed its offshore installation after the topside module was precisely lifted into place. Located about 200 kilometers southeast of Shenzhen in the Pearl River Mouth Basin, the project includes a four-legged unmanned intelligent platform with automated oil production, 30-day self-sustained operation, and remote equipment monitoring. Despite complex sea conditions and a tight schedule, the team used the “Lanjing 7500” crane vessel to achieve millimeter-level installation accuracy. Once commissioned, the platform will support stable production growth in the eastern South China Sea.

Jixi Coalbed Methane Project Starts

On May 18, the comprehensive coalbed methane utilization pilot well project in Jixi Mining Area officially began, marking a substantive step in Heilongjiang’s coalbed methane development. Jointly advanced by Daqing Drilling and Longmay Group since October 2025, the project covers 120 square kilometers in Jixi’s core mining area, with nearly 20 billion cubic meters of coalbed methane resources. As a provincial demonstration project, it will build multiple pilot wells and target key technologies for efficient extraction from low-permeability coal seams. Once in operation, it is expected to reach annual capacity of 200 million cubic meters, supporting mine safety, clean energy supply and green transformation.

Western Drilling Partners Xinjiang Institutes

Recently, CNPC Western Drilling Engineering Co., Ltd. visited the Xinjiang Institute of Huairou Laboratory for talks on research cooperation, resource sharing and talent exchange. The two sides agreed to focus on frontline technical challenges, promote two-way sharing of talent, technology and resources, and jointly build a model of collaborative innovation in the oil and gas sector. The cooperation will combine Western Drilling’s field experience and engineering data with the institute’s research capabilities, aiming to accelerate breakthroughs in drilling and completion technologies, support industrial application, and contribute to national energy security and independent oil and gas technology innovation.
