On March 26, Guangxi Energy Group invited Guo Xusheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former Chief Geologist of Sinopec Group, along with his team, to Guangxi to carry out a technical support initiative for shale gas exploration and development. The program included expert lectures, technical seminars, and core sample observations. The event was chaired by Liang Xiaobin, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of Guangxi Energy Group.

At the technical seminar, Academician Guo delivered a lecture titled “Advances in the Study of Shale Oil and Gas Enrichment Mechanisms,” while Liang Xing, former Deputy General Manager of PetroChina Zhejiang Oilfield Company, presented on “Geology-Engineering Integration Methodology and Key Technologies in Fracturing, Reservoir Building, Drilling, Completion, and Production.” Experts conducted in-depth analyses of cutting-edge topics such as deep-earth exploration, intelligent oilfields, and green low-carbon transformation of oil and gas fields. Based on practical shale gas projects, discussions focused on reservoir geological characteristics, engineering applications, practical achievements, development bottlenecks, and key research directions.

After the seminar, the academician team visited the core repository at the Guangxi Shale Gas Efficient Exploration and Development Academician Workstation. They carefully examined core samples from key exploratory wells, including Guirongdi-2, Guirongdi-3, Liuqi-1, and Guirongdi-4, further clarifying lithological characteristics and deepening understanding of reservoir quality to provide more targeted guidance for technical breakthroughs.

Previously, the Guangxi shale gas project team won the First Prize of Guangxi Science and Technology Progress Award for its achievements in theoretical innovation and exploration breakthroughs in the Carboniferous shale gas of the northern Guizhong Depression. This academician visit served as a strategic consultation, helping to clarify development pathways and improve feasibility.

Guangxi Energy Group stated that it will take this initiative as an opportunity to deepen collaboration with the academician team, enhance technological innovation capabilities, and focus on key issues in efficient shale gas development. By strengthening geological theory innovation and engineering technology breakthroughs, the group aims to promote large-scale and economically viable development of shale gas resources, transforming expert recommendations into concrete measures to support industrial upgrading and foster new-quality productive forces in Guangxi’s energy sector.
