The “Industrial Innovation Consortium for Efficient Shale Oil and Gas Development Technologies and Equipment,” led by Chongqing Huadi Resources & Environment Technology Co., Ltd. under Chongqing Geo-Exploration Group, in collaboration with Chongqing Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources and Chongqing Green & Low-Carbon Energy Science and Technology Research Institute, has been officially approved for construction by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology and the Chongqing Municipal Science and Technology Bureau. This marks the launch of Chongqing’s first industrial innovation consortium in the oil and gas sector led by a technology-based enterprise.

The establishment of the consortium represents a major step in promoting intelligent and efficient development of the shale oil and gas industry in the Sichuan–Chongqing region and supporting the construction of a trillion-cubic-meter natural gas (shale gas) production base.

The consortium brings together 29 upstream and downstream enterprises, universities, research institutes, associations, and service institutions in talent, finance, and legal sectors, forming a full-chain innovation alliance covering “technology R&D – equipment manufacturing – commercialization – industrial services.” It focuses on addressing critical bottleneck technologies and equipment challenges in efficient shale oil and gas development, with key research directions including intelligent geological evaluation, smart fracturing and monitoring, and automated production and drainage. By integrating next-generation information technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and digital twins with traditional oil and gas development, the consortium aims to enhance exploration and production efficiency and profitability, significantly increase annual shale oil and gas output in the Sichuan–Chongqing region, and promote industrial upgrading in advanced materials and future energy sectors in Chongqing.

The consortium plans to establish Chongqing’s first innovation achievement exhibition and commercialization center for intelligent and efficient shale oil and gas exploration and development. It will accelerate the transformation and on-site application of key technological breakthroughs while playing an important role in talent cultivation, standard formulation, and industry exchange, promoting the sector toward intelligent, efficient, and green development and contributing to China’s energy security and industrial upgrading.

The Chongqing industrial innovation consortium also provides convenient access for new members and encourages enterprises and research institutions along the industrial chain to join. Guided by fiscal funding, member units will jointly carry out technological research and promote application of innovation outcomes, enhancing the consortium’s effectiveness.
