As of October 23, CNPC Tarim Oilfield’s Bozi 1904 well has been successfully completed. During drilling, the well used domestically manufactured ultra-high-pressure equipment rated at 175 MPa to carry out reservoir stimulation, reaching a working pressure of 154.68 MPa — setting a new record for the highest pumping pressure in onshore sand fracturing operations in China. This breakthrough marks a significant leap in China’s ultra-deep and ultra-high-pressure reservoir development technology, providing new technical support for stable oil and gas production.

Located in the Tarim Basin, the Bozi 1904 well reached a total depth of 8,226 meters with highly complex geological conditions and extremely high reservoir pressure. To overcome the development challenges, the Tarim Oilfield technical team adopted an integrated solution combining geology, engineering, well completion, and stimulation. Through multiple rounds of analysis — including casing strength evaluation, string mechanics assessment, selection of completion tools, and optimization of wellhead and fracturing equipment — the team successfully deployed domestically manufactured 175 MPa gas wellhead and fracturing systems. The combined process of “acidizing + proppant fracturing” effectively solved the technical difficulties of ultra-deep, ultra-high-pressure tight reservoir stimulation.

“This breakthrough not only verifies the reliability of domestic high-end equipment under extreme operating conditions but also establishes a replicable development solution for ultra-deep, ultra-high-pressure gas reservoirs,” said Zou Guoqing, a second-level engineer from the Well Testing and Completion Division of the Tarim Oilfield Development Department. During the operation, the maximum pumping rate reached 6.13 cubic meters per minute, and the peak pressure reached 154.68 MPa — setting a new record for the highest pressure achieved by domestic gas wellheads and fracturing operations both domestically and internationally.

As a key gas source for the West–East Gas Pipeline project, Tarim Oilfield’s technical breakthrough in this field promotes the continuous upgrading of deep reservoir development technologies. It plays an important role in ensuring national energy security and enhancing the exploitation capacity of deep oil and gas resources, while also laying a strong technical foundation for the productivity enhancement of West–East Gas Pipeline source wells. To date, Tarim Oilfield has supplied over 380 billion cubic meters of natural gas to the West–East Gas Pipeline network, providing a stable energy supply for more than 3,000 industrial enterprises and nearly 500 million residents across 15 provinces, regions, and municipalities.
