In July 2025, PetroChina's Xinjiang Oilfield launched three automated well design functions in its A5 Production Management System, entering the "smart compilation" stage. The upgrade cuts design workload, boosts efficiency by 50%, and raises design pass rate by 25%.

Developed over four years, the A5 system integrates planning, design, construction, supervision, analysis, and evaluation. The new functions enable one-click data retrieval, calculation, and automatic generation of well design documents, accelerating safe and efficient operations.

First Carbon-Neutral Oil Production Plant

In June 2025, the onshore operations area of PetroChina's Jidong Oilfield became the company's first oil production plant certified as "carbon neutral," marking a breakthrough in its green and low-carbon development. Closely aligned with CNPC's strategic plan of "clean substitution, strategic replacement, and green transformation," the oilfield has advanced a transformation model centered on energy conservation, clean energy substitution, and CO₂ recycling, driving deep integration of oil, gas, and new energy. By innovatively implementing a transformation strategy that integrates CO₂-EOR with new energy, Jidong Oilfield has successfully built the first "carbon-neutral" oil production plant, setting a benchmark for green and low-carbon development in the industry.
