Zhongyuan Petroleum Wins Top Prize for 200°C Low-Friction Weighted Fracturing Fluid
At the recent 13th China Petroleum Engineering Fracturing and Acidizing Technology Exchange Conference held in Chongqing, the Downhole Special Operation Company of Zhongyuan Petroleum Engineering Company stood out among over 120 submissions to win the First Prize for its breakthrough technology titled “200°C Low-Friction Calcium Chloride Weighted Fracturing Fluid.”
With the theme “Developing New Quality Productive Forces, Tackling Fracturing and Acidizing Technologies, Enabling Steady Oil and Gas Production, Securing the Energy Bowl, Ensuring National Energy Security,” the conference brought together more than 200 experts and technical elites from Sinopec, CNPC, CNOOC, major domestic oil and gas companies, and top universities.
The awarded technology addresses the challenges of fracturing ultra-deep, high-temperature oil and gas wells. It introduces a novel fracturing fluid system capable of withstanding temperatures up to 200°C with a density of 1.3 g/cm³. By leveraging the synergistic effect of salt-resistant polymers, delayed crosslinkers, and ion shielding agents, the fluid overcomes the technical bottlenecks of high calcium resistance, high-temperature tolerance, and low friction. Laboratory results show that even after 70 minutes of continuous shearing at 200°C, the fluid’s viscosity remains stable above 130 mPa·s, with strong delayed crosslinking characteristics.
This innovative solution not only provides reliable support for efficient stimulation of deep and ultra-deep reservoirs but also sets a new benchmark for cost-effective, high-performance, and environmentally friendly fracturing fluid technology.
