4 Geothermal Exploration Rights Launches Bidding

On April 29, Binzhou Natural Resources and Planning Bureau announced the online bidding for four geothermal exploration rights in Binzhou High-tech Zone and Zhanhua District, with listings open from June 3 to 16. The initiative supports Binzhou’s broader push to scale up geothermal and biomass energy use. With exploitable geothermal reserves equating to 1.136 billion tons of standard coal, Binzhou is accelerating pilot projects and advancing shallow and medium-depth geothermal applications across urban and rural areas. The city aims to innovate “heat extraction without water” technology and enhance sustainable energy development.

AI·R FRAC System Powers Smart Shale Gas Revolution in Chongqing

In Chongqing’s Liangping, Jereh Group has launched the world’s first AI·R FRAC intelligent fracturing system at China’s first fully electric deep shale gas platform. This marks a breakthrough in addressing challenges like short equipment lifespan and low operational efficiency in Sichuan-Chongqing’s shale gas core zone. With real-time AI-driven data analysis, risk warnings, and automated decisions, the system improves safety and efficiency by 45% and monitoring precision to 97.8%. It also achieves full intelligent protection coverage. This pioneering application signals a new era of low-carbon, smart shale gas development.

CPECC Wins Gold at Geneva Invention Expo for CO₂ Capture Tech

CPECC Beijing Branch, in collaboration with partners, won a gold medal at the 50th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions for its advanced amine-based industrial flue gas CO₂ capture technology. Selected from over 1,000 entries across 45 countries, this marks the company’s first such international honor. The technology integrates multi-component amines, solvent purification, and emission control to reduce energy use and solvent loss, supporting large-scale CCUS deployment. Since 2017, the branch has led key CCUS R&D projects, with proven applications in both oil and printing industries, earning recognition for international technical excellence.

Changqing Oilfield Completes Second All-Hydrogen Drilling Test

On April 21, Changqing Oilfield successfully completed its second hydrogen-powered drilling test at the Jing 32-40 well site. Using a 1.5 MW hydrogen power station and hydrogen trailers, the operation achieved 100% hydrogen substitution during the entire second spud phase, consuming 9.702 tons of hydrogen and replacing 36.57 tons of diesel, reducing CO₂ emissions by 124 tons. The pilot proves hydrogen’s feasibility for low-carbon drilling, with stable operation exceeding 200 hours. This marks a key milestone in the field's green transformation, supported by joint innovation in real-time sealing and drilling optimization under complex conditions.

Sinopec Jiangsu Oilfield Launches “AI+” Innovation Drive

On April 24, Sinopec’s Jiangsu Oilfield convened its first AI innovation team leadership meeting to implement national and group-level “AI+” strategies. The oilfield formed a leadership group and five AI task teams targeting smart transformation in exploration, production, operations, and scientific research. Key applications include intelligent seismic analysis, budget forecasting, well optimization, integrated communications, and research data management. The initiative aims to enhance efficiency, cut costs, and build smart oilfield infrastructure. Leaders stressed aligning data, talent, and real-world outcomes to drive AI-powered productivity and green development.
