XCMG Modular Drilling Rig Powers Green CBM Development in Shenmu

At the coalbed methane (CBM) extraction site in Shenmu City, a determined energy exploration campaign is underway. The XCMG XSM2250 modular drilling rig is advancing deep into the subsurface, seeking the abundant CBM resources hidden below.

From soft, collapsible sandy layers to hard, compact rock formations—and even gas-bearing coal seams—complex geological strata present substantial drilling challenges, demanding high adaptability, stability, and safety from the rig.

At the site, the XCMG XSM2250 achieves an average daily drilling depth of 600 meters, significantly accelerating project timelines and laying a solid foundation for early CBM production.

The XSM2250 distinguishes itself through its modular design concept. Compared to conventional oil drilling rigs, it reduces time spent on transport, relocation, and disassembly by over 50%, and cuts transportation costs by more than 30%. Integrated with a digital management system and a user-friendly interface, the rig also improves drilling efficiency by about 10% under similar geological conditions.

In recent years, XCMG has consistently driven green development through technological innovation. The company has developed a comprehensive range of high-performance, environmentally friendly drilling rigs—including crawler-mounted, truck-mounted, and modular types—suitable for CBM wells, geothermal wells, grouting wells, and mining functional wells. These technologies provide robust support for the energy sector's green transition.

Looking ahead, XCMG will continue to adhere to its green development philosophy, focusing on the efficient development and utilization of CBM. It plans to further explore and apply new technologies, processes, and products to advance the low-carbon transformation of the energy industry, contributing XCMG’s wisdom and strength to sustainable development.
