According to a report by Zhongping News Agency on January 8th, the China Geological Survey of the Ministry of Natural Resources announced a series of major breakthroughs in lithium exploration in China, with lithium reserves increasing from 6% globally to 16.5%, jumping from sixth to second in the world and reshaping the global lithium resource landscape.

According to reports, lithium is hailed as the future "king of metals", but for a long time, China's dependence on foreign lithium resources and a large proportion of imports have increased production costs and constrained the development of related industries.

According to official media reports, the newly discovered world-class spodumene type lithium mineralization belt in West Kunlun Songpan Ganzi, China, with a length of 2800 kilometers, has enriched the types and distribution range of lithium resources in China, formed a new direction for development and utilization, and is expected to further increase lithium reserves.

In addition to spodumene type lithium mines, significant progress has also been made in the development of lithium resources in salt lakes. The lithium resources in salt lakes on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau have significantly increased, making China the third largest salt lake type lithium resource base after the South American Lithium Triangle and the western United States.

According to reports, China has also overcome the technical difficulties in lithium extraction from lithium mica, solving the problems of high lithium content but complex extraction and high cost in lithium mica, improving utilization and economy, and opening up a new situation for lithium mineral exploration in lithium mica type.

According to reports, this major breakthrough will effectively alleviate the tight supply of lithium resources in China and promote a healthier development of the global lithium resource market.
