As of January 20, Fengcheng oilfield of Xinjiang Oilfield Company, China's largest super heavy oil oilfield, has produced more than 20 million tons of crude oil.

Fengcheng oilfield is located in Junggar basin. It is also known as "immobile Oilfield" because its crude oil viscosity can reach one million centipoise. The super heavy oil in the oilfield is high-quality cycloalkyl crude oil. With cycloalkyl crude oil as raw material, 75 kinds of high-end chemical products can be produced.

How to develop "immovable oil field"? In 2008, Fengcheng oilfield introduced SAGD development technology. That is, steam assisted gravity oil drainage is used. This technology makes the heavy oil above gradually "soften" flow through the steam below. In 2012, the technology was industrialized on a large scale. In 2017, the oil field achieved a breakthrough of "double hundred" in which the daily production level of SAGD single well group reached 100 tons and the annual cumulative oil production was 1 million tons.

At present, Fengcheng oilfield has formed a well cluster of flooding and drainage composite 136, the oil production level in the test area has increased from 89 tons to 118 tons, and the oil steam ratio has increased from 0.13 to 0.20. It is worth mentioning that since 2020, the vhsd (vertical well horizontal well steam assisted gravity drainage) test area has operated at the level of 100 tons of crude oil per day.

Since its development at the end of 2007, Fengcheng oilfield has always regarded technological innovation as an important engine for efficient development. In 2021, the oil steam ratio of heavy oil reservoir in the oilfield increased by 0.004, and the decline rate was controlled within 3%, exceeding 60% compared with last year, the best level in history.
