Recently, with the successful operation of 2 new wells of Jiaoye No. 29 platform, and the beginning of drilling for 4 wells, the average daily sales volume of Fuling shale gas field reached 17.3 MMcm, up 7.65% year-on-year and its daily production peaked 18.36 MMcm.

Up to now, 184 gas wells in the gas field have been put into pressurized production, with a daily gas increase of 3 MMcm. The annual measures of gas increase reached 677 MMcm, which is an increase of 185 million cubic meters compared with the beginning of the year, which greatly improved the gas supply capacity.(ECF)

2. Large new shale oil reserves found in Gansu oil field

A big addition of 1 billion tons of geological reserves to the oil field in Qingcheng, Northwest China's Gansu province, will help significantly wean China off its reliance on oil imports to safeguard the country's energy security in the near future, industry people said.

PetroChina Changqing Oilfield Company, a regional branch company of China's top oil and gas producer PetroChina, announced earlier this month that it had discovered new geological reserves of 1 billion tons of oil from shale oil resources at its Qingcheng oil field in the Ordos Basin, among which 358 million had been proved.

Lin Boqiang, head of the China Institute for Studies in Energy Policy at Xiamen University, said the new discovery boosts the industry's confidence in domestic oil reserve detections, which is very important for national energy security.

It also proved China is scaling up detecting and exploiting technologies for unconventional oil, and with more investments into the unconventional oil sector, as shown in the case of the Changqing oil field, the production cost of unconventional oil will be reduced very quickly, and will then largely contribute to domestic crude oil production, he said.

The company also said Qingcheng oil field has been stepping up drilling wells since 2017. To date, it has completed the drilling of 216 horizontal wells, among which 100 oil wells have been put into use, with daily crude oil production reaching 1,464 tons.

The company will finish drilling 255 horizontal wells by the end the year, forming an annual crude oil production capability of 1 million tons.

By the end of 2025, annul crude oil production capability at the oil field will hit 5 million, the company said. (China Daily)

3. China's national shale oil development demonstration zone has achieved important results

On October 28, the reporter was informed that an ultra-long horizontal well - Hua H50-7 well successfully completed in the state-level shale oil development demonstration zone of Changqing Oilfield Longdong 1 billion tons level Qingcheng oilfield. The well was drilled to a depth of 6,266 meters, the horizontal section was 4088 meters long, and the reservoir drilling rate was 89.2%. It has set a longest record in the Asian land level and played a leading role in the economic development of the eastern region.

“For unconventional reservoirs in the Ordos Basin, extended horizontal wells are the most economical and practical means to achieve shale oil reservoir reconstruction, which can increase oil drainage area, increase single well production, and effectively improve reservoir development," according to Wu Zhiyu, deputy chief geologist of Changqing Oilfield and manager of the company's tight oil (shale oil) project team.

At present, more than 60 large well cluster arrays have been built in the Longdong area of Changqing Oilfield in this national shale oil development demonstration zone. The output per single well in the demonstration area has been increased from 9.6 tons to 18.6 tons, and the newly built capacity is nearly 1.2 million tons. A new strategic goal of maximizing the number of wells on the platform, maximizing reserves, and maximizing reserves has been achieved.(ECF)

On October 28th, the shale gas well Yongye 5-2HF drilled by the 70837 well team of Southwest Petroleum Engineering Company Chongqing Drilling Branch has been completed drilling operation at well depth of 6070 meters. The well has a horizontal displacement of 2,170.01 meters, a horizontal section of 1800 meters, a second-open average mechanical drilling rate of 6.63 meters per hour, and a three-open average mechanical penetration rate of 6.05 meters per hour. The horizontal well of the shale gas Yongchuan block has the highest depth.

The well is located in Baofeng Town, Yongchuan District, Chongqing City. (ECF)
