Opportunities for Global Players in China
Being the second largest economy in the world, China remains the largest energy consumer, accounting for 23% of global energy consumption and 34% of net global energy growth. Now China attempts to reduce its dependency on coal by switching to shale gas, which is widely perceived as a much cleaner energy alternative. China holds the world’s largest shale gas reserves, which represents more than 68% technologically recoverable compared with the US, according to the US EIA.
China has been releasing a series of oil & gas reform policies in 2017, including promoting shale gas development, promoting energy cooperation of “the Belt and Road” Initiative and lifting curbs on foreign investments in unconventional oil & gas resources. As a matter of fact, China’s oil and gas market will become more open and attractive for global players at E&P, project, new technology, investment and JV.
In addition to this ambitious transformation to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources in response to growing environmental demands, China also presents itself as a huge and ever expanding market that is always eager for innovations and new technologies, across a large variety of energy disciplines and technology areas.
Some of these emerging focuses include, but not limited to, cutting –edge oilfield services and equipment, geochemical & rock analysis, oilfield chemical innocuous management, water & soil detoxification, oilfield life-cycle management including waste disposal & treatment, pipeline safety & transportation, associated petroleum gas utilization & emission control, as well as the overall application of the digital oilfield concept & big data analytics to a variety of oilfields in China.
ECF 2017 aims to bridge the gap between the growing needs for innovations, new technologies & equipment, and advanced management techniques of China, and our valued global service providers, engineering and environmental companies, research institutes, investors, etc., to promote co-operation & discussion, and to unleash the numerous business potentials from China, one of the largest, and ever expanding energy markets in the world.
