ECF Energy Technology Innovation Award 
10th Edition (2025) – Now Accepting Submissions

Since its launch in 2016 by the Shanghai United Institute for Unconventional Resources (SUI) and the CCOP, the ECF Energy Technology Innovation Award—filed with China’s National Science & Technology Awards Office in 2023—has recognized pioneering advances in unconventional oil & gas. For 2025, we have fully upgraded our framework to mirror national-level standards and showcase every stage of innovation.

Why Apply?

•Three Distinct Categories covering invention, large-scale deployment, and practical improvements. 

•Transparent Review Process: anonymous expert scoring, public feedback, and on-site defense. 

•Industry Spotlight at Energy China Forum 2025 (Oct 22–24, Shanghai).The Subject must be innovative within recent 1-3 years.

Award Categories:

*Category may be withheld if no entry meets the minimum standard 

1.Technological Invention Award 

•Celebrates original breakthroughs with independent IP and major technical advances 

•Prizes: Grand, First, Second, Third 

2.Science and Technology Progress Award

 •Honors solutions in full-scale deployment that deliver significant economic or social impact. 

•Prizes: Grand, First, Second, Third 

3.Technology Innovation Award 

•Rewards incremental improvements or “small” inventions that boost efficiency or reduce costs. 

•Unranked

Eligibility:

1.Launch Window: Technologies or products introduced between January 1, 2022, and August 31, 2025 

2.Must satisfy at least one: 

•Holds independent intellectual property or a core proprietary technology 

•Proven engineering-scale deployment with measurable results 

•Generates quantifiable economic, social, or environmental benefits

•End-user endorsement or clear demonstrative value 

•Internationally advanced or leading technology level 

Not eligible: Projects with major safety/quality incidents resulting in sanctions, or unresolved IP disputes.

2.Preliminary Review: September 2025 (document screening & expert scoring) 

3.Final Review & Defense: Early October 2025 (on-stage presentations at ECF2025) 

4.Awards Ceremony: October 22–24, 2025 (Energy China Forum 2025, Shanghai)
